Adobe Caslon Typeface Specimen

My type specimen project highlights the strengths and utilities of the Adobe Caslon typeface—making thoughtful use of ornaments, italics, glyphs, etc—while using body copy from Anne of Green Gables.

We were limited to a maximum of 2 colors and their tints to simulate the obstacle being on a budget for color printing costs. I chose a pleasing and sophisticated color palette that compliments the choice of novel as well as the natural designs of Adobe Caslon's ornaments. The formatting of the large quote pages were made to flow in a particular way, emphasize certain words, and create natural pauses, not unlike poetry. For the chapter excerpt, I ensured the dense body of text was broken up into pleasing, manageable, and visually dynamic sections.
